FAQ - Selling Your Business
01
Choose an Advisor

You have made the decision to control your financial future by purchasing a business. Choosing the right guide will have a huge impact on your search. Make sure to not only pick an agent but the brokerage they work with to ensure you'll have access to a wide network.

02
Define Your Goals

We'll start by gathering and reviewing your financial capabilities, skills and experience and your personal life goals. Once you're committed to the process, we'll be able to determine the best types of businesses to pursue.

03
Review Buying Process

To feel comfortable buying a business, transworld professionals will explain the process in detail and provide an in-depth view of the current marketplace. We will discuss business listing information sheets, basic valuation concepts and survey the spectrum of available opportunities.

04
Search for the Right Fit

We'll work together to refine your business search and explore opportunities. While you explore your options, your agent will also be hard at work finding good business fits and will get you detailed information on promising businesses and assist with confidentiality disclosures. When we have narrowed your list down to the best fits, we'll set up showings with sellers.

05
Make an Offer

Once you've selected a business, we will develop a strategy and deal structure. Together, we will draft a contingent offer and present the seller with a purchase and sale agreement. This includes arranging for an appropriate amount to be held in escrow to demonstrate your seriousness. After negotiations, you will have an executed contingent purchase agreement in hand.

06
Complete Due Diligence

Our professionals will help you make the owner's representations of the business. This includes coordinating the efforts of your legal and accounting professionals to satisfy all contingencies. We will help you present your financing to your lender and ensure that you are qualified and prepared to repay the loan.

07
Close the Sale

To facilitate a seamless closing, we'll complete final preparations (e.g. lease assignments, utility transfers, merchant service accounts, inventory counts and other considerations unique to the business). Your acquisition will be completed by an attorney and we will finalize the payment of the purchase price.

08
Transition the Business

We'll stay by your side through the first few quarters together to help reduce surprises and position your business for growth. This might include training from the seller, meetings with employees and clients, technical education, computer upgrades or other essential knowledge transfer.
